Privacy Policy
Who we are
BarterSocial is operated by BarterSocial, Dallas, Texas, USA ("BarterSocial," "we," "us"). BarterSocial helps you discover tonight's bar deals and specials in Dallas and save the ones you like. You must be 21 or older to use BarterSocial. BarterSocial displays information about venue promotions; BarterSocial does not sell, serve, or deliver alcohol. Please enjoy responsibly and never drink and drive.

Children
BarterSocial is intended for users 21 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 21, and we do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.
1. Information we collect
We practice data minimization: we collect only what the app needs to work.

We do NOT collect:
- Location: BarterSocial never asks for or collects your location.
- Photos, camera, contacts, microphone.
- Reviews, ratings, or any content you write (the app has no user-generated content).
- Analytics, crash reports, or usage tracking: the app contains no analytics or crash-reporting SDKs.
- Push tokens: the app sends no push notifications.
- Precise geolocation, health, financial, biometric, or other "sensitive data" as defined by Texas and California privacy law. Your date of birth is checked but never stored.
- Any advertising identifier (IDFA). See "We do not sell, share, or track" below.
Guests: if you browse without an account, we store nothing about you and create no profile. Guests can browse offers but cannot save them; saving requires signing in.
2. How we use your information
We use the data above only to: operate and secure BarterSocial; show you offers and your saved list; verify that you are 21 or older; and fix problems. We do not use your data for any purpose that is not reasonably necessary to or compatible with these disclosed purposes without your consent.
3. We do not sell, share, or track
- We do not sell your personal information for money or anything else of value.
- We do not "share" your personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising or targeted advertising. We use no third-party advertising SDKs and no advertising identifier, so we do not "track" you across other companies' apps or websites as Apple defines tracking, and BarterSocial does not show an App Tracking Transparency prompt.
- Because we do neither, no "Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information" link is required, but we disclose the fact plainly here.
- We do not profile you to make legal or similarly significant decisions.
4. How we share with service providers
We share limited data only with vendors who process it on our behalf to run the app:
- Authentication: Apple (Sign in with Apple), Google (Sign in with Google)
- Backend, database, and hosting: Supabase
These are service providers (processors) barred from using your data for their own purposes. We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect rights and safety.
5. How long we keep it (retention)

6. Security
We maintain reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards appropriate to the volume and nature of the data, including encryption in transit (TLS), database row-level security, and least-privilege access. No system is perfectly secure, but we design to minimize what we hold and to protect what we do.
7. Your privacy rights
Depending on your state (for example, under the California Consumer Privacy Act or the Texas Data Privacy and Security Act), you have the rights below. We honor these rights for all US users regardless of state.
- Know / access: get the categories and specific pieces of data we hold about you.
- Delete: have your data deleted.
- Correct: fix inaccurate data.
- Portability: get a copy in a portable format.
- Opt out of sale, sharing, targeted advertising, or profiling: nothing to opt out of, because we do none of these.
- Limit sensitive data: not triggered, because we store no sensitive data.
- Non-discrimination: we will not penalize you for exercising a right.
- Appeal (Texas): appeal if we deny a request.
How to exercise your rights
Email privacy@bartersocial.app from the email on your account, or, in the app, go to the You tab and tap Delete Account to delete your account and data immediately. Deleting your account in-app also revokes your Sign in with Apple authorization. We will:
- Verify your request and respond within 45 days (extendable once by 45 days if needed).
- Provide the response free of charge up to twice in a 12-month period.
- (Texas) Appeals: if we deny your request you may appeal by replying to our decision; we will respond within 60 days, and if we still deny, we will give you a link to submit a complaint to the Texas Attorney General.
8. California: additional disclosures
- Categories of personal information collected in the last 12 months: Identifiers (name, email, IP address, device info), Commercial information (saved offers).
- Sources: you (sign-in, saves, age verification), your device (transient technical data).
- Business/commercial purpose for collecting: operating and securing the app and enforcing the 21+ requirement.
- Categories disclosed to service providers: Identifiers and saved offers (to Apple, Google, and Supabase; see section 4).
- Sold or shared: None.
- Sensitive personal information: we do not collect or store it.
9. Texas: additional disclosures
Consistent with the Texas Data Privacy and Security Act, this policy states the categories of personal data we process (section 1), the purposes (section 2), the categories shared with third parties and who they are (section 4), how to exercise your rights including the appeal process (section 7), and how to submit a request (section 7). We process no sensitive data and therefore post no sensitive-data sale notice (none applies).
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. We will change the "Effective date" and, for material changes, notify you in-app. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised policy.
